Why does the privileged class become fascist ?

Why does the privileged class become fascist ? India and Pakistan both are following the same course in their history. In undivided India and later upto late eighties life was simple and educated Hindus of India and educated Muslims of Pakistan were followers of ethical values- the majority of the backward population of both countries had not entered into race for job and education. Then with betterment of economy both countries witnessed the rise of backward people of rural areas, tribal areas and slums. The politics became the rise of tribal leaders and caste leaders and this also terrified the privileged section. Indian privileged class opted for violent version of Hindutva and Pakistani privileged class opted for violent Wahabi Islam - both targeted minorities. The majority of educated people hitherto liberal, secular and believer in Evolution and atheism became orthodox Hindu and Muslim in both countries. The privileged class of both countries voted and supported politicians who were outright killers, rapists and rioteers. Both countries have become fascists and killers and rapists are being hailed and garlanded.
